24th of July - Fun in the Sun

We had a wonderful time on the 24th of July. We went boating with our good friends, "The Hekkings". We had such a fun time. The kids thought it was a blast. They were able to go swimming in the lake, Max tried the wake board and knee board. Angela gave a try at the wake board and was able to get up for a short minute. After boating we went out to dinner and then back to their house for drinks and home fireworks. I think that everyone had a good time. Thanks for a wonderful day!!!

Maxwell did very well on the wake board so I thought that I would take a video of him, take a look below:

Austin and Angela Face Painting, Max Too

Well the 24th of July is coming up soon. The kids and I went to the South Towne Expo Center and went and viewed some of the floats that are going to be in the Days of 47 Parade on Friday. The floats were are all so good. It was really neat to see them up
close. They gave each of us a ballot and at the end we were able to vote for the float that we liked the best. If you watch the Parade on Friday, Max really liked the float that was called "The Avenues" (I think the big red "U" on the top sold him on it) and Angela really liked the float th
at was from Real Salt Lake. It was a really cool float with an absolutely HUGE Soccer Player on it - really neat. Austin and I voted for the Monsters verses Aliens float that was made by Walmart. Anyway it was a good time and the kids also got balloons and their faces painted (of course, Max was too old for the face painting, but the lady making the balloons said that he could never be too old for a balloon!)

Max at Lava 2009

MAXWELL AT LAVA

Here are some pictures of Max at the swimming pool with his cousin's and their friends. They were playing basketball in the pool. It was Max and my sister's husband Dave against all the girls. I don't think Max minded much. The cousin's had some cute friends!!!!

4th of July at Lava Hot Springs---

***Austin is the speck on the slide
Well it was our annual trip to Lava Hot Springs for the 4th of July. It was a very busy town. Lots of people and lots of things to do. We hung out at the pool every day. They have added some new water slides that are a lot of fun. It is quite the walk to get up to them. There is 9 flights of stairs - so by the time you reach the top, you need an oxygen mask. They are a lot of fun. I do have to admit that I was scared the first time that I went down them but really had a good time. The kids went on them too many times to count. Robert, Max, and my sister Pam and her husband Dave went golfing on Saturday. They had a good time. Austin actually went off the 3rd platform. I don't think he was scared to anything. The slides didn't scare him and the platforms didn't scare him either. Angela brought her best friend Morgan, Austin did his own thing and Max had a good time hanging out with his cousins and their friends. The fireworks were a good show as always.

Summer 2009/Swimming

The kids and I have been doing a lot of swimming when I get home from work. They have been swimming up at Cottonwood Heights Swimming Pool. They love the waterslides and especially the Platforms to jump off of. Max and Angela have been jumping off the platforms for quite a few years now, but Austin just started this year. Max and Angela have been trying to get Austin to jump of the higher levels so when we go to Lava Hot Springs over the 4th of July he will jump off the 3rd platform. The 3rd platform is 10 meters which is approximately 30 feet. Attached is a video of Austin and Angela jumping off the 2nd platform at Cottonwood Heights.

Austin's Birthday Party

Austin just celebrated his 8th birthday!!! Hard to believe that he is already 8. He had his birthday party at Classic Skating with some of his friends from school. He had a great time. He got to spin their huge wheel to try and win a prize and ended up winning $10.00. His friends were awesome and he got some wonderful gifts.

Austin at Baseball

Austin started out the baseball season with a very broken leg. He had a cast that went from his toes all the way to his hip. He couldn't practice with his team, but instead had to watch from the sidelines. After 4 weeks of the long cast, he was finally put in a walking cast. He finally was able to start playing a little baseball. The coaches told him that if he could get to 1st base then he would be able to swich out and let someone else run for him. He did this for another 3 weeks. He was a little behind on his batting and didn't do that much hitting. But when he needed to he really came through, he sure did. His team made it to the finals and they were playing to see who was going to play in the championship game for trophys. Austin was up to bat with 2 strikes against him and he finally hit the ball - scoring the 2 winning runs. His team ended up winning 2nd place and getting awesome trophys. His coach has also posted his winning hit on YouTube. just type in Padres winning hit and you will be able to watch it!!!

Angela's Award

Angela was very excited at the end of school year. She was given an award for placing in the top 10% nationally in math on the Iowa test.
She certainly takes after her father when it comes to math!! (Max too!!!)

Max on Brighton's Track Team

Max was on the Brighton Track Team and competed in the JV Regional. He was the 1st place JV Regional Champion in the 110 meter hurdles. He also placed 3rd on the medley relay and 5th in the shot put and 5th in the discus. He did very well and it was very exciting seeing him get the ribbons.
